- Summary
- For a set of fixed passage points, the number of days each season with little or no sea ice, plus the first and last open-water dates. Each value comes with a stated ice threshold and uncertainty.
- Why it matters
- Shipping, emergency response, and security planning in the Arctic depend on how long passages stay open. This dataset turns the long sea-ice record into a simple count per passage.

- This is a historical indicator. It is not a navigation product and does not replace ice charts.
