This website is informational and is operated by Heimdall Research. Browsing it, writing to us, or using material we publish does not create a contract, a client relationship, or a professional engagement.

Creating an account, using an API key, or calling the API or the MCP server is covered by the account and API sections below. The Data Use Policy is a plain-words summary of them. If it and these terms differ, these terms apply.

The website and our services

Project descriptions, examples, prices, and schedules on this site are informational. They are not offers and not binding quotations. Paid services, and what they deliver, are governed by a separate written agreement: the Customer Terms and Data License for purchases, or your order form.

Illustrative examples

Some interfaces, diagrams, and engagement descriptions on this site are illustrative. Unless something is expressly identified as completed work, it does not represent a finished client engagement, an actual performance result, or a guaranteed deliverable.

Published prices

Published prices and engagement ranges are planning guidance. They are not offers, not binding quotations, and not a ceiling. Final scope and price depend on the agreed requirements, data, geography, integrations, deployment environment, schedule, and support.

Open datasets, software, and research

Datasets, software, models, and other materials we expressly release under a stated license are governed by that license, and nothing on this page restricts permissions that license grants.

A release includes only the materials its release record identifies. It does not include or license our production software, internal tooling, confidential information, or other proprietary assets.

Third-party data and rights

Some services, demonstrations, research, and datasets incorporate or reference information from government agencies, satellite operators, commercial data providers, and other third parties. That material remains subject to its own rights, licenses, terms, and restrictions. Naming a provider or a technology does not imply sponsorship, endorsement, or partnership.

Imagery on this site derived from Copernicus Sentinel satellites carries the notice: Contains modified Copernicus Sentinel data 2017-2026. Copernicus Sentinel data is subject to the Copernicus Sentinel Data Terms and Conditions.

Limits of geospatial analysis

Geospatial information can carry positional error, gaps in time, classification uncertainty, sensor limitations, incomplete coverage, and inaccuracies that originate in the source data. Results should be read against their documented limitations and their intended use.

Satellite availability

Collection opportunities, revisit frequency, image quality, latency, and delivery vary with sensor availability, geography, collection priority, atmospheric conditions, licensing, and other factors outside our control. Where we commit to any of these, the commitment appears in the written agreement, not on this site.

Automated results

Results come from automated processing and can contain errors. Check them before you rely on them.

Using this site

Do not attempt unauthorized access, interfere with the site's operation, or misuse its submission forms.

Ownership

The Heimdall Research name, marks, site design, proprietary software, analytical systems, graphics, and documentation are owned by Heimdall Research or its licensors, except where expressly identified otherwise. Datasets we publish openly carry their own license, stated on each dataset record, Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 unless the record says otherwise.

Accounts

You can download the open files without an account. You need an account for an API key, for the MCP server, and for saved areas.

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a contract. If you use an account for an organization, you confirm that you have authority to bind that organization, and "you" in these terms includes it. We do not offer accounts to children.

An account belongs to one organization. Give a real name and a working email address. Do not open extra accounts to get more calls than one account allows.

You accept these terms when you create an account, use an API key, or call the API or the MCP server. If you do not accept them, do not do those things. You may still read the public pages and download the open files.

API keys

Keys belong to the account, and you are responsible for every use of them. Keep each key secret. Do not send it to anyone outside the account. Do not put it in a web page, a mobile app, a public repository, a ticket, a shared document, or a prompt.

The secret is shown once, when the key is created. We store only a hash of it and a short public prefix. We email the account when a key is created or revoked. The email names the prefix and never the secret.

If a key may have leaked, revoke it or replace it in the customer app, then write to security@heimdallresearch.com with the key prefix and the time you revoked it. Replacing and revoking a key ask for a second code, sent by email or taken from an authenticator if you turned one on. Creating a key asks for one too, except for the first key made at sign-up and, if you have no authenticator, a key made within 10 minutes of signing in with an emailed code. A key that has been revoked is rejected from then on.

We may revoke a key or suspend an account if a key is shared outside the account, if these terms are broken, or if we need to protect the service.

Open data and account data

Open data is the set of files we publish under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0) on Zenodo, Kaggle and Hugging Face. You do not need an account to download it. You may copy, share and adapt it, including for commercial use, if you give credit and say what you changed. The licence text is at creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0. Nothing on this page removes a permission that licence gives.

Account data is everything else the API or the MCP server returns: any response that is not marked CC BY 4.0. If a response says CC BY 4.0, that file is open data. Account data is for your organization's own use, under the rules below.

Use rules

Without a written order from us that says you may, do not:

Open data may be used to train a model, with credit, as its licence allows. Showing an open number or an open video on a page you run is not resale.

These rules apply to everyone who uses the API or the MCP server:

Limits

A free key is limited to 60 requests a minute, a burst of 20 requests in 5 seconds, and 1,000 requests a day. The API and the MCP server share that allowance, and a call on either counts once. Downloads of open files do not count. Past a limit, calls fail until the window resets. We may change a limit to protect the service.

High-risk uses

Do not use the site, the API, the MCP server, the data, or an assistant reply that used our data for any of these:

Assistants and MCP

You may connect an assistant you run to the MCP server with your key. We send the assistant our data and short instructions. The assistant writes its own replies. We do not write them or check them before you see them. A reply can add a claim, drop a limit or get a number wrong, so check it against the data and the dataset's stated limits before you rely on it.

Do not put a person's name, an email address, an account number or any other identifier of a private individual in a prompt or a tool call. A place is fine: a city, county, state, ZIP code, address or coordinates. The usage record we keep names the tool. It does not hold the prompt text. Your assistant provider may keep the prompt under its own terms.

What is published now

All three are CC BY 4.0. A version stays under the licence on its own record. Anything the data pages list as planned is not provided and is not promised.

Early access and paid plans

Early access runs to December 31, 2026 and ends at midnight US Eastern (05:00 UTC on January 1, 2027). Until then every account may use what the API and the MCP server provide, at no charge. Checkout is refused during that period. You may close the account at any time and owe nothing for it.

County storm results are available to every account during early access, including storms less than 180 days after landfall. After early access ends, county storm results for a storm that is not yet in a published release are free 180 days after landfall. Until then they need a later plan. Storms in a published release stay available, and open data stays free to download.

Paid plans are planned to start on January 1, 2027. We will post new terms, with billing, renewal, cancellation and refunds, and email the address on each account, at least 30 days before any charge. If we do not, we will not charge. The Customer Terms and Data License apply to a paid order.

Changes to the service and to these terms

We may change the site, the API, the MCP server and the plans, and we may add, change or withdraw a dataset, a feed or a beta feature. A release you already hold keeps the licence it was published under. If a change removes something an account already has during early access, we will email the account first unless delay would add a security or legal risk.

We may change these terms. The date under the title is the date of the terms in effect. If a change materially reduces your rights, we will email the account before it takes effect. If you keep using the account after that, you accept the change.

No service level and no warranty

We do not promise uptime, speed, support response time or delivery of any feed. The site, the API, the MCP server and the data are provided as is, without warranty of any kind. We do not warrant that they are accurate, complete, current, fit for a particular purpose or available without interruption, or that an assistant's reply matches our data. Where the law does not allow an exclusion, it applies as far as the law allows. Nothing here removes a right that a statute says cannot be removed.

Credit when you share open data

When you share an open dataset or a large part of it, keep this credit with the dataset's name, version, and link or DOI: "Dataset name, version, by Heimdall Research, licensed under CC BY 4.0. Link or DOI." Keep the third-party credits in the dataset's NOTICE file, and say what you changed. When a page you run shows a number, map, still or video from our API, show the dataset's line from Data disclaimers where a reader can see it, with the credit "Data: Heimdall Research".

Ending use

You may stop using the service at any time. The owner of an account can delete it in the customer app. The privacy page says what deletion removes and when. We may suspend or end access if you break these terms or to protect the service. Where we can do it without adding risk, we will email the account first and give a reasonable time to fix the problem.

After access ends, open files you already hold stay under their licence. You stop receiving account data and API access, and the use rules above still apply to account data you already received.

Data disclaimers

These are the dataset lines. The long Arctic line adds one sentence after the short line.

Arctic. Not for navigation. Use at your own risk. Provided as is, without warranty of any kind. For ice conditions, use your national ice service.

Lakes. Not for water-rights, legal or engineering decisions.

Storms. Estimates from public records and satellite night light. Not for real-time emergency response or for any decision about one address or property.
