Context
What this shows
The Beverly Drive-In opened on U.S. Highway 49 south of Hattiesburg in 1948 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2008. A fire destroyed it in 2010. The register continues to list the property, with its "still standing" field recorded as unknown, and its mapped outline covers a wooded lot roughly 280 meters north of the ground on which the screen and parking ramps stood.
In the 2012 image the fan-shaped rows of parking ramps remain visible below the outline. By 2023 an apartment complex occupies the same ground. The outlined lot is unchanged between the two dates.
Method
How the image was made
Two USDA aerial images of the same 1.1 km by 0.6 km window were reprojected to a common grid (UTM zone 16N) with cubic resampling and are shown in true color. The register boundary was obtained from the National Park Service map service, projected onto the same grid, and drawn in amber. No further processing was applied. The offset is the distance between the center of the register outline and the center of the ramp pattern in the 2012 image.
